Today I take the time to thank the Lord for all the talents He has given me. I thank Him for creating me with a combination of gifts that helps me grow as a person and help others too around me. I thank Him for also creating avenues for these talents by which I can express myself and also praise Him. I thank Him that my talents are not necessarily the same as others and that I can learn from others too, and also for means by which I can use these talents to sustain myself. Praise God for these talents, for it tells me that I have been given a part of God's immense nature which connects me to Him. Help me Lord to identify the talents you have given me so that I can be the person You want me to be.
We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
(Romans 12:6-8)

This is a great example of humility...another of your amazing qualities, Mandy.
ReplyDeleteRed.
Thank you Red.... and Praise God! One thing I have always been taught is that nothing comes from nowhere. What I am is because of Him who created me. I know I should never take this for granted.
ReplyDeleteThank you Amanda....I completely identify with the thoughts that you express....
ReplyDeleteToo many people get bogged down wishing they were someone else because they feel inferior. If only they would read your blog. Perhaps then they wouldn't waste so much of their life in negativity. Reminds me of a song we used to sing in church when I was a child, "Count Your Blessings, name them one by one." :-)
ReplyDeleteMandy, your chosen scripture (Romans 12:6-8) is probably one of the most important instructions in the bible. It encourages each of us to be what we are, and do the best with our given talents. It also encourages us to be content with our lives, and what we profess to be. Great post!
ReplyDeleteDarryl, Diane and Raymond - thank you for visiting my page.
ReplyDeleteDarryl, thank you for your support.
Diane - this is the issue with many people, the inability to discern one's talents and be self - satisfied. I know the hymn 'Count your blessings..." and this is the one I had in mind when I started out with this blog (see the top of the page - blog summary).
Raymond - we can be only what we're destined to be; each one unique and different. Knowing this can make a big difference in our lives.
You just get better and better.
